(Note: this is a confidential, free service). You can also contact us with any questions or problems with the site - we welcome all feedback.

All Coaches
Coaches offer instruction, direction and support to help clients achieve personal and professional goals. Examples include: career coaches, health/wellness coaches, executive coaches and life coaches. While some trained therapists also offer coaching services, not all coaches are trained in mental health.

Psychotherapists Psychotherapists hold advanced degrees in counseling, psychology or social work and are trained to assess and treat emotional, behavioral or mental difficulties through the use of talk therapy. Sometimes referred to as just "therapists," these professionals may be Master's or Doctorate level practitioners and must have a valid license from a board of behavioral science to use this title. Some psychotherapists also offer other services like coaching or consultation.

Mind-Body Specialists Mind-Body Specialists are healers that utilize body-oriented modalities to achieve emotional and behavioral wellness. Some psychotherapists may identify as both therapists and mind-body specialists, if they have training in both areas. Examples of "Mind-Body Specialists" include Reiki Healers, Acupuncturists, Biofeedback Experts, Movement Therapists, Somatic Therapists, Yoga Therapists and other types of bodyworkers with training in psychological healing.

Medical Doctors Medical Doctors - this category refers to psychiatrists, naturopathic doctors (with psych expertise), and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Psychiatrists are MDs that may provide both therapy and medication. Naturopathic physicians hold advanced degrees in natural/holistic medicine and may prescribe medications or natural supplements, as well as offer general counseling and other recommendations that promote a healthy lifestyle. Psychiatric nurse practitioners have advanced training in psychological intervention, including therapy, medication prescribing and consultation to patients and families.

Others Others - this category consists of other types of psychologically-oriented professionals, such as spiritual counselors/clergy, educational consultants and case managers (case or 'care managers' are those who provide support to individuals and families that need help coordinating the care of a loved one).
