Interview with Natasha Collins, Marriage and Family Therapist in San Francisco, CA

9.)  KP: What do you consider your strengths as a therapist?

Natasha: Similar to what you just said, I think that a huge strength is that I really believe in the therapeutic process and that people have the capacity to change and develop the skills that they need to reach their goals. I think that my belief in the importance of empowering individuals can help instill hope and confidence in the people with whom I’m working.

I also think that I do a pretty good job of creating a nonjudgmental space and environment for someone who is going through the process of trying to make changes in their life.  I think that’s really important.  I am able to build rapport with other people pretty easily, which is also a valuable strength to have as a therapist as. It’s important to feel connected to the person you’re going to seek consultation or support from.  Lastly, I am goal oriented in my approach, and I see that as a strength, too, because I think that when people are investing time in something, it’s natural to want to see results and feel like the person you’re working with is also invested in seeing results.

Next Section: 10.) Can you describe your “ideal client” for your private therapy practice?
